About Us
Clear Mirror Pictures began humbly: a non-profit called Tibet Communications and SARGYUR, the first Tibetan video news magazine, launched in 1994. From that beginning we have come a long way — creating international motion pictures under one mantra: educate, entertain, enlighten.
Founder Pema Dhondup is a second-generation Tibetan born and raised in India, a Fulbright Scholar, and a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He wrote and directed We're No Monks, the first Tibetan feature film, and the award-winning The Man from Kathmandu. He was elected the first President of the Tibetan Journalist Association.
Today Clear Mirror Pictures is the only Tibetan production company in Hollywood, with a slate of features and documentaries in every stage — each one a story of the Himalayas told for the world.
Where It Began
Launched in 1994, SARGYUR was the first video news magazine in the Tibetan exile community — the seed from which Clear Mirror Pictures grew, and the beginning of a lifelong mission to put Tibetan stories on screen.
